As President & Founder of Nexus Government Relations, LLC, Steve Dye brings more than 20 years of government affairs experience to his clients. Steve has expertise in a wide range of issues including water infrastructure, environmental policy, energy, high-technology, appropriations, economic development, transportation, water quality and quantity, education, and corporate and nonprofit matters. 

Steve began his career on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), the former Chairwoman of the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee. Steve also served as Legislative Director to former Congressman Frank Mascara (D-PA), who served on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. Through his experience managing policy and funding interests in both the House and Senate, as well as handling all legislative issues that came before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Steve is able to help clients achieve their goals by navigating the complex workings of Congress and federal agencies. His network of contacts on Capitol Hill and knowledge of federal funding sources are an invaluable resource to clients. He also works extensively with federal agencies, particularly the EPA, Corps of Engineers, FEMA, Interior, Energy, and Defense Departments, to help clients advance projects and obtain funding though grants, partnerships, and programmatic funding.

Prior to starting Nexus Government Relations in 2013, Steve was at major lobbying firm in DC where he represented municipal, nonprofit, corporate, and educational organizations before Congress and federal agencies. He also served as Vice President of Government Affairs for a transportation trade association and as Director of Federal Affairs for a lobbying firm where he specialized in water resource and municipal needs. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
